after i heard enol s beautiful track white mango on initial cut, i felt the need to reach out. i had a long and friendly conversation with matthieu (enola) about our musical background and agreed on the fact that we both have a weakness for pop music and early detroit techno, and quickly came to the conclusion that something with a little pop would be perfect for the label. enola came to us with >slow motion< featuring the vocals of will caulfield. its something different for enola, and something different for us, deep techno pop, perfect for 5am! enola is the new project of french dj matthieu monnin, who used to be part of the techno outfit noirdegout. matthieu now works on his own, finding his niche in melodious techno, taking inspiration from the sounds of the nineties. he has done work with the likes of rodriguez jr, anoraak, and arno gonzalez, and now he joins correspondant with >slow motion<. on the flip side, nhar, the other half of correspondant turns the darkness into light with for me, his best remix to date. if the original is for 5am, nhars remix is for 5pm, when the sun still shines and its warmth still remains.

after two smoldering releases on figure & spc, roberto bosco is back for his third offering for len fakis spc imprint. a future-classic 4 track techno ep, with more than enough to keep the peak time floors happy, this is big room music at its most intelligent and sensitive. easing us into the thick of it, charming noise takes humming, rumbling bass tones and a metallic clang as its themes. slow burning and readily effective, its a brooding monster for the late hours. i just cant breathe pushes the adrenalin up a few notches in a screaming, white noise attack on the senses. boscos trademark heavy bass rumble and crisp percussion layers hold their own in this reduced killer. were then ready to embark on an emotional voyage as the masterful see the light emerges from the depths with its pushing acid bass and beautiful atmospheric melody. classic strings and synths swirl and build in a tender and heartfelt piece of timeless techno. closing the ep, i was lonely takes the vibe into more reduced, after-hours zones with robertos cool and low-slung take on the smoother sound of futuredeep house.

mowar has reached its 10th release! this release heads into a darker direction with four solid and mental techno movers. searle is a new name to join the mowar ranks, but his sounds are pure, raw with a pinch of dark ambience. the record opens with the title track mind transfer, which brings a raw oldskool 808 feel layered with hypnotic basic channel-like chords and a subtle but most effective acid line. modern love s claro intellecto on remix duty turns the track into a slow moving warehouse monster, throbbing its way to a drugged chicago-esque jacking feel yet retaining the original darkness of mind transfer. on the flipside succubus lives up to its ominous title. this track is a dark hypnotic affair with fierce kickdrums piercing through an obscure sound palette of eerie pads and deep basses. razor sharp modulated noise then invades the whole thing turning the track into a punishing dark workout. finally unauthorized brings a more edgy and experimental sound to the whole, starting of with a dubby bassline and graveyard shift pads, but once the piercing hi-hats kick in, the track shifts to straightforward almost cristian vogel-like mental techno. by the way� searle is a new moniker of mowar frontman franco cangelli.

token is 5 years old. i never planned to do anything special for this occasion. however, when i received these 2 new tracks from phase, all just fell into place. this release pretty much sums up what token stands for since day one. both tracks are fierce pieces of relentless yet deep techno, in-your-face yet very subtle rhythms, all credited to phases detailed drum programming, keen sense of atmospherics & sound processing.

7 year old spaniard alberto pascual is the latest techno talent to be welcomed into the plus 8 fold with vertigo, his debut ep for the label. a skilled dj and live performer, pascual has been producing since 2004, with over 30 releases to his name, all of which pursue a direct and powerful techno style. its much the same on vertigo, the title track of this ep which hits loopy depths immediately. dramatic fx, crunchy hats and tension mounting hisses fill out the spaces between the beats, but the militant, marching groove never wavers. truchas rancias is more reserved: economical arrangements characterise the techno eeriness this time, forever hinting something is just around the corner but never quite showing you. final vinyl cut continuous learning is more unhinged, with swirling synths, dripping water sounds and shadowy voice sounds all coming together like classic plus 8 weaponry.

from celle into the wide world: these days guido schneider is one of the major globetrotters among djs and producers worldwide, but he began his career 15 years ago in provincial germany. however, instead of baking bread rolls, schneider founded his own label neue welten right from the beginning. it was a move that naturally brought him to the capital of electronic music in berlin. what followed was a series of exciting and successful collaborations with other renowned artists, and after dissolving his label, schneider began travelling as a sought after dj, jetting all around the globe. it is little wonder that such a reputable dj and producer also belongs to the diverse highgrade family. he has now produced another ep for the berlin label which brings us the typical guido schneider qualities right before our eyes, or even better: before our ears! the two tracks navigate precicely from the first bar, the minimal sound universe that relies on elaborate percussion, without ever being over produced, and flow into fantastically harmonic vocals that lend the thumping beats an elegant softeness. simply stated, typically schneider.

hotflush presents the debut 12 inch from belgian newcomer locked groove aka tim van de meutter. the young producer delivers three hypnotizing and genre bending tracks that expertly weave the sounds of berghain, soulful house and uk garage into a single crushing package. the >rooted< ep draws you in with the title track, bouncing along to an acid baseline, then moves onto >drowning<, a moody techno track that was included on scubas dj-kicks mix compilation, filled with drum and ambient samples taken from field recordings. lastly, >change<, a production that smartly melds classic house grooves with industrial techno, demonstrates locked grooves rhythmic finesse and long-term promise as an artist.

a new year, a new record. der turnbeutel brings its third vinyl into the recordstores. on the a-side you will find our old acquaintance datastix, who again show their lucky hands in finding the right track in these dark times of the year with their >penumbra<. it is accompanied by a remix from nadja lind (klartraum/lucidflow) � a remix that fills espacially the guys of datastix with a lot of pride. on the b-side clark davis turns his rounds with his >tretroller< (engl. scooter), a track which will drive the atomsphere on any dancefloor. the disk gets completed by a tretroller remix from andre kronert (night drive music), that comes so massive that even big boys can ride it smoothly.

with sa012 dadub carefully collate legacies of philosophical thought and transpose them into a brilliantly deep ep. the vinyl opens with >perseverance< a slick slice of bass that writhes and twists around a syncopated core. on a2 >temptation of maya< seizes at the act of perception and what is captured is perfect for the mellow confusion of a sunday morning. on the flip side the search for transcendence goes further with >beyond the veil< which crackles towards a sense of enlightenment. the ep closes with a golden moment of contentment, >moksha<. the track titles hint at the search for revelation, which is rendered in countless experimental layers and finely wrought details. sa012 is a peek into the conceptual framework that dadub engage with to create their vision. and just as their central image, maya, is intangible in the perceptible universe, the tracks seem to erupt from an equally mystical place: molten, dark and fathomlessly deep.

on brothers in loves first release, max k. gets right down to business introducing himself and this family project: booming kick drums, thumping toms side by side with sharp hi-hats and staccato claps. machine grooves with sounds as raw as the musical approach of the artist. >losing your cool< builds on a massive kick drum, with a tom groove shuffling the track. it develops into a late summer bloom, which is over as fast as this years berlin summer was � with piercing percussion to remind you that winter is already here! >overdrive<, the first track on the flip, starts as a heavy slow groover with thumping kick, crashing snare and acidic synth lines until a punishing hook enters knocking you upside the head. the second track on the b-side, >indulgence< comes disguised as a stepper with a raw, pulsating analog bass line, but reaches its apex with a whirling synth lead on top of a vocal that could never be classified as your ordinary preachapella.
